As the name suggests the condition describes an immobility of the shoulder joint. Frozen shoulder can occur spontaneously or as a result of surgery, injury or metabolic disorders.
- As a rule, patients are plagued by increasing pain in the first phase.
- In the second phase, the pain decreases and the mobility of the joint also steadily decreases.
- In the third phase, the mobility gradually increases and the restriction subsides.
In many cases, the duration and severity of the different phases can be influenced by physiotherapeutic treatment.
